The Las Olas Isles are the reason Fort Lauderdale gets called the Venice of America. Nurmi Isles, Hendricks Isle, Solar Isle, Isle of Venice, Seven Isles, Sunrise Key, Isla Bahia — the names read like a boating directory because that's essentially what they are.
This is a rare piece of urban geography: island living where the island is also downtown. Las Olas Boulevard's restaurants and galleries are at the end of the street, the beach is a mile east, and the yacht is behind the house.
